Friday, June 1st: Every Friday in June and July we’ll have a musical going in our meeting room. The first of the summer is The Sound of Music (1965). A woman studying to become a nun in Austria, who is sent to the villa of a retired naval officer and widower to be governess to his seven children. After bringing and teaching love and music into the lives of the family through kindness and patience, she marries the officer and together with the children they find a way to survive the loss of their homeland through courage and faith. Popcorn and drinks will be served.

Friday, June 8th: The second Movie is Into the Woods (2014). Iconic characters, such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel, find their fates intertwined with a humble baker and his wife, whose longing to have a child sends them on a quest to reverse a witch’s curse. Popcorn and drinks will be served.

Friday, June 15th: The third movie of June Grease (1974). Good girl Sandy and greaser Danny fell in love over the summer. When they unexpectedly discover they’re now in the same high school, will they be able to rekindle their romance? Popcorn and drinks will be served.

Friday, June 22nd: The fourth movie of the summer is Phantom of the Opera (2005). Deep in the passageways below the Paris Opera lives a lonely horribly disfigured man when the masked Phantom sees young Christine, his heart melts. He secretly trains her, transforms her into a star … and loves her. But when she cannot return his affection, as her heart already belongs to another, all the pain that the Phantom has held within is revealed with horrifying results. Popcorn and drinks will be served.

Friday, June 29th: The fourth movie is Hairspray (2009). In 1962 Baltimore, chunky Tracy Turnblad dreams big: land a gig on the see-and-be-seen TV teen-scene hit The Corny Collins Show, win the heart of the nicest and cutest boy in school, and strike a blow for civil rights. Popcorn and drinks will be served.

Friday, July 6th: The first musical of July is the Lion King (1994). A Lion cub crown prince is tricked by a treacherous uncle into thinking he caused his father’s death and flees into exile in despair, only to learn in adulthood his identity and his responsibilities. Popcorn and drinks will be served.

Friday, July 13th: The seventh movie of the summer is Mamma Mia! (2004). The story of a bride-to-be trying to find her real father told using hit songs by the popular 1970s group ABBA. Popcorn and drinks will be served.

Friday, July 20th: Celebrate the awesome of Julie Andrews with a viewing of Mary Poppins (1964) In turn of the century London, a magical nanny employs music and adventure to help two neglected children become closer to their father. Popcorn and drinks will be served.

Friday, July 27th: The last movie of the summer is Les Misérables (2012). In 19th-century France, Jean Valjean, who for decades has been hunted by the ruthless policeman Javert after breaking parole, agrees to care for a factory worker’s daughter. The decision changes their lives forever. Popcorn and drinks will be served.
