Adult Summer Events!

Friday, June 1st– Block Party 5-8pm: Start the night out with Karaoke, then party down with the Sugar-Free All Stars,  and shake your tail feathers at a Zumba dance party. While you’re jamming out to the tunes, stop by the registration table to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge and take a gander at all the events that are available.  Maybe even sign up for a few! Then swing yourself back outside for a block party to remember! Food trucks will be there to satisfy your taste buds.  After you’ve had your fill take on the challenge of the obstacle course! Next stop by the many booths that will be there and try out all the activities that are available. It’s sure to be a fun packed evening you won’t want to miss!

Friday, June 1st– Friday Night Musical 6-8pm: Every Friday in June and July we’ll have a musical going in our meeting room. The first of the summer is The Sound of Music (1965). A woman studying to become a nun in Austria, who is sent to the villa of a retired naval officer and widower to be governess to his seven children. After bringing and teaching love and music into the lives of the family through kindness and patience, she marries the officer and together with the children they find a way to survive the loss of their homeland through courage and faith. Popcorn and drinks will be served.  

Tuesday, June 5th – Panic at the Disco Murder Mystery Dinner 6-8pm: The House of Groove Discotheque is hosting the annual Disco Fever Contest!  You’re ready to boogie, as you’ve practiced your groovy moves all year for this competition. You can’t wait to show off your far out disco threads. You must RSVP for this event.

Friday, June 8th – Friday Night Musical 6-8pm: The second Movie is Into the Woods (2014). Iconic characters, such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel, find their fates intertwined with a humble baker and his wife, whose longing to have a child sends them on a quest to reverse a witch’s curse. Popcorn and drinks will be served.

Tuesday, June 12th– Escape Room 4:30: Two groups of 10 will get the chance to enjoy an escape room!  They will be racing the clock to solve a clever and Deadly crime. Quick thinking and strong teamwork are crucial as identifying the murderer in time may just prevent you from being the next victim! You must RSVP for this event.

Thursday, June 14th– Blood Drive 12-6pm: Give Local and let the Adventure Begin! With your donation you get a t-shirt and two passes to the Science Museum Oklahoma. You can register online or in the library in the programming binder, or we always welcome walk ins!

Friday, June 15th– Friday Night Musical 6-8pm: The third movie of June Grease (1974). Good girl Sandy and greaser Danny fell in love over the summer. When they unexpectedly discover they’re now in the same high school, will they be able to rekindle their romance? Popcorn and drinks will be served.

Tuesday, June 19th– Haydn Chamber Music 6pm:  A selection of Haydn’s music will be performed by a group of musicians from the Oklahoma Haydn Festival. Haydn is familiarly known as the ‘father of the symphony’ and could with greater justice be thus regarded for the string quartet. Performance in open to all ages!

Friday, June 22nd– Friday Night Musical 6-8pm: The fourth movie of the summer is Phantom of the Opera (2005). Deep in the passageways below the Paris Opera lives a lonely horribly disfigured man when the masked Phantom sees young Christine, his heart melts. He secretly trains her, transforms her into a star … and loves her. But when she cannot return his affection, as her heart already belongs to another, all the pain that the Phantom has held within is revealed with horrifying results. Popcorn and drinks will be served.

Tuesday, June 26th– Colorful Music 5-7pm: Be ready to get colored from head to toe and rock out to music from all different genres. We will have dart paint water balloons, paint sponges, and tied dye station. A waiver must be signed before participation.

Friday, June 29th– Friday Night Musical 6-8pm: The fourth movie is Hairspray (2009). In 1962 Baltimore, chunky Tracy Turnblad dreams big: land a gig on the see-and-be-seen TV teen-scene hit The Corny Collins Show, win the heart of the nicest and cutest boy in school, and strike a blow for civil rights. Popcorn and drinks will be served.
